Fresh from the academy, hotshot pilot Lance Casey joins the new TCS Midway, the first in a new line of mega-carriers. In the midst of her shakedown cruise, the Midway responds to a distress call in the Kilrah system, and soon finds itself confronting a terrifying new extra-galactic threat.
