fresh:
With its compellingly multifaceted approach, its earnest compassion and a celebrity presence in the form of the actor Gael Garcia Bernal, the documentary could be enlisted in the perennial battle over immigration law.

The results are poignant, yet show the difficulties of applying fiction templates to true stories.

The focus of the film may be the deadly dangers of illegal border crossings, but its true subject is ordinary people and the things they'll do for the ones they love.

The cinematography is exquisite and sometimes it alone moves the story.
