The swings from goofy to gory and jokey to tragic cancel one another out, and Mr. Diliberto's near-constant voice-over is irksome.

Critics on Rotten Tomatoes
Top critics, in their words
Despite some real moments of sweetness, it ends up feeling a bit slight.
Diliberto has devised a rather more unusual method of addressing Palermo's Mafia infestation. If he can't fight them, he'll skewer them - scathingly, uproariously, with great comic verve.
