La Sorpresa - L'eccezionale storia di Padre Marella
Filippo, a young teenager, discovers that his maternal grandfather was raised by Father Marella.
2021 · 1h 34m Comedy, History, Romance
Overview
Filippo, a restless teenager of today, is tasked with a school project about his family history. Through stories told by his mother, Lucia, he makes a surprising discovery: Ivo, his maternal grandfather, whom he never knew, was an orphan, just like him. He was raised by Father Marella, a truly extraordinary figure: a philosopher, a beggar, an eccentric teacher, and a savior of Jews, but, above all, a father to countless abandoned children. For Filippo, this begins an adventurous and dramatic journey into the Bologna of the 1940s and 1950s, a journey of discovery, leading him to learn about Father Marella, his grandfather Ivo, and, ultimately, himself.
