Overview
Writer Kuranosuke and Shizuko are left living alone after their son and daughter-in-law are transferred to the countryside. Then, Shizuko receives news that her mother has been seriously injured, and she returns home. Kuranosuke, who is completely incapable of doing housework, asks Ginsaku, a fishmonger, to arrange for a housekeeper, and Ginsaku's wife, Yasuko, comes to help. Kuranosuke and Yasuko become close, and their relationship eventually develops into a physical one...
