Top Critics Reviews

rotten:
The result, though undeniably preferable to yet another misbegotten installment of the long-exhausted franchise, certainly doesn't compare to John Carpenter's landmark original film.
– Frank Scheck,
Hollywood Reporter,
12 Dec 2007
fresh:
It's inanely-scripted exploitation, sure, but this 'Halloween' doesn't trivialise; it even returns with sympathy to one victim minutes after the attack that has left her bleeding on the floor.
– Ben Walters,
Time Out,
28 Sep 2007
fresh:
The Batman Begins of slasher movies, and one of the more frightening stabathons of recent years.
– Kyle Smith,
New York Post,
12 Sep 2007
rotten:
As if spooked by the long shadow of suburban killer Michael Myers, the director has all but dropped his organic camera style, resulting in exactly the kind of bland, scareless remake the fans were fearing.
– Joshua Rothkopf,
Time Out New York,
6 Sep 2007
fresh:
It's a decent diversion.
– Owen Gleiberman,
Entertainment Weekly,
5 Sep 2007
