Overview
Sultan is an elderly woman living alone in Istanbul. While waiting for her son and grandson on Mother’s Day, she becomes increasingly angered by a pile of garbage across the street. She begins warning people from her window not to throw their rubbish onto the street and gradually becomes an authority figure whose word is obeyed throughout the neighborhood. Empowered by the fear she inspires in others, Sultan begins to see herself as the protector of the neighborhood. When a garbage container is placed in the neighborhood and disrupts the order she has established, Sultan secretly removes it, determined to regain control over her surroundings.
