Brilliant student Marta is 25 and seems to have her whole life ahead after majoring in philosophy. She'll soon have to face the ugly truth for young graduates in Italy, made of temporary jobs and a complete lack of real career opportunities. While babysitting for single mother Sonia, she starts to work at the call center of a company selling junk to housewives, quickly rising through its ranks under the watch of ruthless Daniela. Inside the workplace, Marta experiences first-hand the fanatical and exploitative competition culture pushed on the young employees by Daniela and her boss Claudio. Around her revolve other people, like fragile co-worker Lucio 2 or well-meaning but inconsistent union official Giorgio.
