Walter Doniger was an American film and television director, screenwriter, and producer known for his work in action dramas and television series. A graduate of Harvard Business School, he began his career as a screenwriter in the early 1940s with Universal Pictures. During World War II, Doniger collaborated on training films for the U.S. Army, which influenced his later work. He directed films such as Cease Fire! (1953), one of the first 3-D war films, and Safe at Home! (1962), featuring baseball legends Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Transitioning to television, Doniger directed episodes of popular series including Cheyenne, Maverick, and Peyton Place, where he directed 64 episodes.
